The 1950 Ford came in four models frequently called shoebox Fords: a coupe, a sedan, a wagon, and a convertible. These models were credited with reviving the Ford Motor Company after World War II. The visual differences included rectangular parking lamps moved below the grille bar encased in metal housings. A new stylized Ford crest of red, white, and blue cloisonné replaced the block lettering found on the hood of the 1949’s. The hood ornament was also altered and the rear of the car received a similar badge as found on the hood. A body-colored deck handle and license plat lamp assembly was changed from the chrome of the 1949’s. Glass tail lights appeared for the last time on the 1950 models with external trunk hinges also making their final appearance. The 1950 models also included the gas cap moved behind a hinged door and push button external door handle mechanisms. Internally, the speedometer needle was now plastic, not metal, and the radio speaker now matched the dashboard. As the slogan of the era said, there could be a Ford in your future and this black beauty could be in yours.
